In addition to their highly lauded full-length ‘Heathen’, Thou has this release ‘Ceremonies Of Humiliation’, a collection of all of the band’s musical output from split releases prior to the release of their mammoth 2010 opus ‘Summit’. That means all of Thou’s contribution to their splits with Black September, Leech, Mohoram Atta, Salome and Haarp are all accounted for in this triple vinyl set.

Omens was recorded over a period of four months in four different countries (Osaka, Japan by Hironori Ochi @ Kakurega | Melbourne, Australia by NeilThomason @ Head Gap | Montreal, Canada by Matt Cartman @ Crane Studio | Chicago, IL by Sanford Parker @ Engine Studios). The latest recordings also features newest member Rob Schaeffer (Dark Castle, YOB live, etc.) along with guitarist Shiran Kaüdine (Year of No Light), bassist MicHell Bidegain, and of course the ethereal, penetrating vocals of Emilie Bresson. Guest musicians Atsuchi Sano (Birushanah), Yailen Munoz (Ensorcelor), Eric Quach (Thisquietarmy), Jeanne Peluard (The Sparteens) and Robert MacManus (ex Grey Daturas / ex Monarch) make appearances.
Thirty Four minutes of drone and eerie moans building to lurching drums and strings accented by harsh screams ending with haunting vocals & drones. A 3 minute Lustmordian interlude punctuated with dire howls. Funeral dirge builds adding juxtapositional angelic tones. Ugly drone, dark whispers, screeches erratic yells and then slowly ends as it begun!

Two new songs clocking at ca. 20 minutes each, starting off where the "speak of the sea" ones left. Very similar in sound and shape, sort of a continuation.An apocalyptical, suffocating and terrifying sound which emanates from their Sunno and Sovtek amps, from their impossible-tempo war drums, and from the ripping throat of the warrior queen. Nonetheless Monarch have been compared to the legends of this genre (Corrupted, Burning Witch, Sunno, etc.), and record after record, Monarch are proving these comparisons are accurate and true.

MONARCH seeks deeper into its stripped down yet almost melodic doom whilst the Japanese guys from BIRUSHANAH offer us a unique track, built around percussions and strange rythms, as they are used to do during their stunning live shows.

To celebrate the band's tenth birthday, here's the reissue of the first YEAR OF NO LIGHT record "Nord", initially released in 2006 on Radar Swarm/Crucial Blast with a bonus CD compiling rare tracks from split records (with ROSETTA and KARYSUN among others), some covers (JOY DIVISION and THE CURE) and old remastered songs from their demo. This reissue really worths to collect all the band's tracks from their first era (before their new instrumental era begun with their second record "Ausserwelt") with agressive songs and screaming vocals. Six years after its first release, this record is still actual with its post-metal style mixed with a lot of other tunes (sludge, drone, black-metal, etc).

For the better part of a decade Chicago’s Locrian have been creating sprawling, blackened drone masterpieces. With ‘The Clearing’ (previously release in late 2011 on vinyl only) Locrian’s signature sound of ominous crescendos mixed with powerful atmospherics and pulverizing tension reached its highest point to date, earning the record glowing reviews across the board from Decibel Magazine to Pitchfork. Locrian achieve what many bands set out for, but few accomplish: making truly terrifying music without sounding campy, contrived or corny. Now renamed ‘The Clearing/The Final Epoch’ the record is finally available in CD form complete with a full second CD consisting of almost an hour of rare and unreleased material.

Previously known as Pussygutt, the duo of blackened psychedelic dronemetallers from Boise, Idaho changed their name to the much more ominous sounding Wolvserpent in 2010. The name is the really the only thing that changed, as the occult hypno-doom and grim, folk-stained nightmares that populated their previous albums are all intact here. This double disc from Crucial Blast collects both the Gathering Strengths Lp (Olde English Spelling Bee) and Blood Seed Lp (20 Buck Spin), both of which were previously available only on limited edition vinyl. The material has been remastered for this format, and comes in an eight-panel digipack that features both the original album artwork as well as new imagery that further compliments Wolvserpent's avant-garde witch-sludge.

ASCEND is a new collaborative musical project between Gentry Densley (Iceburn, Eagle Twin) and Greg Anderson (sunn 0))), Goatsnake, Engine Kid).

Both have been making music that has crossed paths several times in the last 19 years.(!!!) The most notable being during the 90s when Andersons’ band Engine Kid toured with and shared a split album with Densleys’ band Iceburn. During that time both were heavily experimenting with the fusion of jazz (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, John Coltrane) and the dark behemoth tones of influences such as The Melvins, Gore, Slint, Caspar Brotzman.

ASCEND re-visits some of the tones, and moods of their past works as well as traveling into uncharted territory all done with the utmost focus on heaviness and power. Of particular note is the vocal performance by Gentry Densley. His voice is deep and ominous with a subtle Tom Waits influence within the growls and gruffness that is emoted. Anderson gushes enthusiastically: “we were extremely fortunate to have ALOT of help from our friends with this recording. Andy Patterson pounded the hell out of the drums, and Steve Moore (aka Stebmo, also in Earth and often times : sunn 0))) ) added some trombone (Obelisk of Kolob, + Dark Matter), organ (Her Horse Is Thunder, Dark Matter) and some amazing wurlitzer (Amplifier Within, Divine). His playing brings a dark, sophisticated jazz atmosphere to the album. On the track “V O G” we were blessed to have Bubba Dupree (Void) AND none other than Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) put down some incredible lead work!

Swedish doom band PISSBOLIER relased "In The Lair Of Lucid Nightmares" from Third-I-Rex in December 2017, and they never stop to obliterate the world with extremely slow and heavy doomed sonic torture! They unleash new material "Att Med Kniv Ta En Kristens Liv". If I describe Pissboiler's music in a few words, it's "hybrid of funeral doom and extreme sludge/drone". Low frequency crawling oppression combined with emotional funeral dirge. The concept of this album is murder case that 2 old men were stabbed to kill in bed. It's joyless and only bitter negativeness here!

With the object of finding alternative routes or approaches to heavy metal, without veering away from its primitive foundations, ALTAAR began recording their self-titled debut album in 2011, at Taakeheimen Lydrike Studio.

2012. One year on. ALTAAR have finally finished 2 new movements: "Tidi Kjem Aldri Att" and "Dei Absolutte Krav Og Den Absolute Nåde". The songs make up each of their respective side of an LP attacking conventional doom metal (Corrupted, Black Sabbath, Nortt) with references stemming from the classic Psychedelic era (Les Fleur De Lys, Captain Beefheart, Pink Floyd).

The mysterious Portland ensemble Trees return with their second offering on Crucial Blast, Freed Of This Flesh, with two new fetid death rituals scraped from the crypt. Each of these tracks averages around fourteen minutes, an extended death-rattle formed from black glacial riffs suspended in space, tectonic percussive rumbles, anguished shrieks of torment and abject suffering, deep guttural demon-toad throat singing, and endless sheets of glistening metallic feedback that spill and drift to the far edges of their extreme time-stretched ambient doom, a crumbling, blighted majesty, noxious ambient blackdoom adrift on putrescent tides. The wretched vocal effluvium creeps formlessly across austere slabs of crushing heaviness arranged into ghoulish constructs of atmospheric dread, moving so slow that the music seems to lose all sense of propulsion at times, becoming lost in a fog of howling amplifiers and buzzing feedback, the guitars stretched into massive decomposing drones, the spaces between infested with controlled bursts of drums that skitter and rumble, almost "jazzy" in a vague sort of way, but still incredibly slow and ponderous. Freed Of This Flesh inhabits the same sort of black-tar depths as the likes of Burning Witch, Monarch, Khanate, and Bunkur while stripping the slo-mo heaviness into their own twisted, skeletal configuration.

The debut album from the Portland quartet Trees delivers two epic tracks of monolithic, blackened doom metal with a twisted, noise-damaged approach and a dank basement vibe. Trees craft glacial abstract riffs and rivers of ashen amplifier goo that fans of feedback-laden heaviosity will find highly satisfying, a kind of grinding, slow-motion black hole psychedelia that has a similiar hypnotic death-ritual quality as artists like Bloody Panda and Khanate, but with their own unique trance state of swirling guitar textures, horrific jet black dronescapes and ghoulish, excoriating vocals. Features members of the PDX psych-sludge outfit Tecumseh (Important Records). This CD edition of the TREE's debut comes in a Stoughton printed 4-panel gatefold case.

Human Quena Orchestra first took shape as a solo project from Ryan Unks, who had previously played guitar in the final lineup of the Pittsburgh metal band Creation Is Crucifixion. After moving from CIC, Unks began to work on a new project that would incorporate elements of black metal, crushing drone music, extreme psychotropic noise and psychedelic/krautrock influences into a sound that would be much heavier any of his previous projects. The first album from Human Quena Orchestra was released in 2007 on Daft Alliance; Means Without Ends was a disturbing, introspective slab of blackened industrial doom that stood out in stark contrast from the rest of the slow n' low extreme doom scene, utilizing layers of harsh textured distortion and electronics to create a caustic form of monstrous doom that shared as much of industrial music's cold, machine-like aesthetic as it did the ultra-slow riffage of the most extreme variants of doom metal. Formed in 2009 with an aim to create a unique blend of Doom/Sludge/Ambience/Experimentalism. Heavy, distorted and punishing guitars blend seamlessly with haunting ambience created by vintage synthesizers, feedback and programmed effects.
On their first full-length since 2010's Messio, members Mr.D, Mr.W, Mr.S, Mr. Y create a hammering musical amalgam that runs the gamut from doom, sludge, ambience and a ferocious slashing fury that comes with brutal abruptness. An overwhelming atmosphere of anguish rigorously contrasts a cataclysmic fury raging against both the corporeal and ethereal. All is tenaciously rooted in a vast blackened atmosphere of occultism that hurls listeners into a boundless world: equal parts desolation, misery and rage.
Aethyr manage to condense the work they had accomplished during the previous years into one brutal Doom-punch to the musical mid-section.

After several years in the making, it is Nuclear War Now’s honor to finally present this split album from Bunkur and Mordor, two of the most extreme and unorthodox bands in the doom metal subgenre. This release was first conceptualized in 2009, when Bunkur approached Mordor with the proposal that the two bands collaborate and each contribute a single track in the form of a reinterpreted version of a song originally written and performed by a classic metal band. Approximately eight years later, this idea has at last come to fruition. For its contribution, Bunkur chose Carnivore’s “The Subhuman,” as released on the band’s first recording, “Demo ’84.” With the original song clocking in at just over eleven minutes, it is almost certainly the most logical selection from Carnivore’s discography, given Bunkur’s penchant for maximizing the potential for each droning note and vocal wail, and the space in between them, with the result being single songs that have been known to span the duration of entire hour-plus-long albums. In this particular case, “The Subhuman” has been slowed to a pace that essentially doubles the length of the original and, to the uninitiated, might obfuscate the source of its inspiration. Mordor, on the other hand, chose to reinvent “In League with Satan,” a song the band considers to be the heaviest from the immortal Venom’s debut album, “Welcome to Hell.” Drawing heavily on the influence of Laibach’s unique martial/industrial/neoclassical style, Mordor has not only extended the song from its original three-and-a-half minutes to a previously-unimaginable sixteen-and-a-half minutes, but it has also rebranded the song “In League with Wotan.” Beyond simply renaming the track, its thematic focus has appropriately shifted from one of Satanism to one of reverence toward northern Germanic tradition and is thus dedicated to the Lord of Valhalla. Despite the fact that numerous other bands had already covered “In League with Satan,” Mordor’s version incorporates a dramatically new arrangement and rewritten lyrics to match its shift in theme. The combination of these two tracks yields a product that pays homage to our metal heritage and at the same time reaffirms the status of two of the current day’s most innovative and experimental doom bands.

Two tracks each from bands coming at dark heaviness from different ends of the spectrum, but who compliment each other perfectly.
The two Ghast tracks are painfully slow, heavy and unrelentingly repetitive funeral dirges of ultradoom. There are some definite sludge ovetones going on there but this is definitely for fans of bleak doom/sludge: think Moss/Burning Witch/Corrupted etc
Abandoner is Jay and Ryan from Unearthly Trance but this is a different proposition altogether: post-indutrial soundscapes, this is almost like an alternative soundtrack to Eraserhead. Drenched in feedback, almost lost vocals, buzzing, processed guitar all come together in a MASSIVE dark, almost symphonic whole. Total void music.

Trauermärsche (and a tango upon the world’s grave)” is a truly unique piece: Heavy and disgusting. Abhorring and intriguing. Sick and enticing. The amazing mixture of sludge, doom, drone and black metal with a touch of saxophone and insane vocals. You’ve never heard anything like this before, and when it gets into your head – it’s there to stay.

After very successful album Nearby Being (2006, in cooperation with Ad Lux Tenebrae project), we bring you a new album of mysterious project from Russian Ural. 74 minutes long composition called Noughtwards is full of dark harmonic drones and subtle pulsations, and is meant to multiply your inner self by zero and to take you off... noughtwards. The album is coming out in nice six pannels digipack in limited edition of 600 pieces.

At last!!! We've had this one brewing for months now and it's well worth the wait! What started off as a small run of CDr has become At War's most ambitious release to date, and I'm totally fucking chuffed by it!!! This collection comprises demos, live stuff, rarities and rehearsals from the UK's most consistently interesting, forward-thinking, and just plain fucking great band of the last decade. Starting off from now and moving backwards through time to the early bedroom demo days, this CD shows Marzuraan's evolution from simplistic droning minimalism of the two bass lineup to the full-on rock beast of today.
